New Year’s Resolutions – Swingers Edition

New Year's ResolutionsWell here we are again!  Another year has come and gone and it is time to follow that time honored tradition of self introspection and improvement….The New Year’s Resolution!  Generally speaking, the New Year’s Resolutions fall, for most people, into a few well worn categories.

I will exercise more…..

I will lose weight….

I will be a better husband, wife, parent, etc…

I will stop smoking, drinking, shooting heroin…

You get the idea.  Most of us at one time or another has made one of these generic resolutions.  Hell, you might have even followed through and became a better person for the effort.  I’m certainly not going to try and dissuade anyone from trying to improve them!  The purpose of this site, however, is to help Swingers, new and old, get the most enjoyment from the Lifestyle possible.  No matter how long a couple has been in the Lifestyle there is always room for improvement.  Perhaps a New Year’s Resolution is just what the doctor ordered to help us on our way to better, sexier, swinging in 2013!

Here are a few Resolutions I know I would like to see people attempt…and maybe a few we as a couple could adopt as well!

  1.  I will NOT misrepresent my age or appearance in any online profile or email communication I have with potential new Lifestyle friends.  Let’s face it; we all want to look our best to attract quality friends and playmates.  Putting  misleading information, or just flat out lying, about your age, weight, or even whether or not you smoke or drink, is just plain dishonest and simply won’t work.  I don’t care how charming your personality is, if you say you are 38 when you are clearly 58, then any physical meeting is going to go poorly.  Be honest and show a little confidence in who you are…confidence is sexy.
  2. I will return all messages, even if to just politely say “we’re not interested but thank you for writing”.  Wow am I bad at this one!  I always have the intention of going back and returning messages, but I usually forget.  I think probably I don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings, but truth is, we have received a polite “no thank-you” in the past and it didn’t particularly hurt my feelings so probably I’m just being lazy.  The “thanks, but no thanks” message at least lets a person or couple know they can “mark you off their list” and not waste anymore time writing you, and if someone gets enough of these messages perhaps they will reexamine their profile and approach, improving their luck in the future.
  3. I will not over drink during Lifestyle dates or events.  Here is a pretty common problem with a seemingly easy answer.  Some people, me included at times, tend to drink more when nervous.  There can be a lot going on during Lifestyle events.  New people to meet, a spouse to keep track of in a crowd, people buying you drinks etc…  A Lifestyle date can be lower key but then your hosts insist on opening another bottle of wine or you simply lose track over the course of an evening and end up shit faced and passed out with people drawing penis pictures on your face.  Don’t be a dick face….count your drinks…know your limits…make sure you have eaten.  Simple really!
  4. I will always remember to treat my spouse with the love and respect they deserve.  This is not an issue we personally have problems with, but we have witnessed it in the past.  It can really crop up with new couples.  The offending partner probably doesn’t intend to disrespect their spouse, but they get caught up in the moment.  A few drinks and a little flirting from an attractive prospect and suddenly you have lost track of your wife / husband.  Chances are you will find them off by themselves plotting your demise.  Always remember the rules you laid out as a couple and COMMUNICATE.  Always remember, communication is the key to a happy, sexy, Lifestyle experience.  As for the spouse who is feeling ignored…stop it before it ruins your night!  Use your words…. Say this is not alright and I want you to stop what you are doing.

That is four pretty good ones to get started.  Perhaps I will add to the list in the coming days.  Do you have any suggestions?
